Lady GaGa recently came out the closet and confirmed she is a hermaphrodite.

Lady GaGa allegedly said this about the subject:

It's not something that I'm ashamed of, just isn't something that I go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female. I didn't know who Lady GaGa was before you mentioned this. It doesn't look all that 'little' from the video. I think it stood out pretty hard (should I say 'soft'? ).

I thought, if it isn't obvious enough for the doctors to see if a baby is male or female they just leave it to the individual to decide on in a later stadium... I heard stories about children from which they took, well, let's say body parts, who turned out wanting to be a different sex later in life and had serious issues with that...

That was back in the unenlightened days if you ask me. Back when
"boy minus penis = girl"

How could a child born with ambiguous genitalia have a small penis (or a large clitoris, that's another way to say the same thing) cut off and then grow up to be a girl who never knows it happened? What about the fact that the girl wouldn't have a clitoris? Or the fact that the baby's brain could already have an established gender and that gender might not be female?

This was also the same generation in the US where baby boys were circumcised for no medical reason and parents just never thought about it or questioned it. But don't get me started....thankfully that is changing too.
