Okay, so a quick update... creosote products are plant tars which are totally forbidden by IFRA regulations... sorry, guys this stuff is toxic and can't be used in fragrances.

Yeah, that's probably why they use it to preserve power poles.

Historically tars were used in men's fragrances. But that is before they realized how harmful these are.
Actually you can use it as long as you make sure the content is no more than 1 ppm.... in other words, not at all... lol.
But, seriously, these are carcinogenic and genotoxic.

I used to paint ball when I was younger and it took me back in my memory to those days. And I'd like to try to capture that in a fragrance for men.
I'll tell you my ideas, and you tell me if you think it is good or not and what elements maybe you'd like to see.
So far I'm thinking tea leaves, rain, light citrus, grass, Juniper, and rosewood for the top; magnolia, sage, lavendar, herbs, and light spice for the middle; and agar and other woods, moss, hay, tobacco and rich earth for the base.
I'd like to try to capture that feel of quietly waiting for the battle to begin, out in the elements, and hunkered down in mother nature's bossom. I guess this would be classified as a Fougere.
You guys are the experts... so tell me. Am I missing something? Is there something I should or should not do?
Diane
whenever I went paintballing I'd always smell "dirt." You're always in it. Crawling, running, falling, everything. Dirt, dry brush, heat type smell. Then again, I played in the dryer, brush areas of cali. I always recall a soil type smell, sort of mineral like especially after it rained.

I haven't had time to finish this fragrance yet.
I launched my pheromones and have been swamped.
Once I get a chunk of time it won't take long to finish the fragrance, but it will have to meld and marry for 6 weeks after that before it will be finished.
So look for it again in the spring.

This is the next best thing to creosote. https://www.grandpabrands.com/pinetar1024.htmlI have the bar soap and it is black as sin. I'm sure if you paint it on baby rats it will give them cancer or some other malady. I like it.

Not to go off topic but you ever try the African Black soap. Its made from tar roots resins from tree's in africa. That stuff is amazing. My kids have eczema and it works wonders. Diane can you look into a mechanic scent when you have time. Not to make it smell like a dirty car engine but something that compliments cars and engines. Maybe I can get my hubby to wear it and we can sneak some pheromones in LOL Tisha

I have a fragrance that smells exactly like dirt... the kind when you are digging in rich dark soil. I don't know if that would do it.
I've been working with it with some leafy wet smells. But I kinda like it the way it is.

Its crazy but I love the smell of the earth. Even dirt except for the dirt up at the farm. But in the woods I can roll in it LOL
