When Pherotruth was set up by our glorious founding father and supreme leader, Mark W, he put certain restrictions on new members into place, and with the changing of the guard, we mutually decided that this was a good practice for many reasons.

Newer members are limited in the places they can create a new post and cannot view certain forums on the site. You might be wondering why.

First off, with hundreds of thousands of posts and topics, and thousands of active members, Pherotruth sees a good bit of action, discussion, and general conversation. Newer members only being able to respond to existing threads or create new posts in the new-member forums serves several purposes:

• It cuts down on spam and bot accounts sullying the topics already in place
• It cuts down on new members creating a new topic where ones already exist
• it allows newer members to get a feel for the structure of the site to minimize off-topic posts
• it gives newer members a good reason and opportunity to research their questions rather than ask questions that have been thoroughly discussed
• it helps to prohibit fly-by-night signups from joining to solely sell their stuff and then disappearing
• it helps to minimize personality clashes in the case of confrontational new members (which seldom happens)
• it assures that members are here to contribute to the community rather than just snipe data and information
  

The second question you may be asking is how do you go from a new member to a full member to have complete access. All you need to do is to positively contribute to the community by posting, asking fresh questions, etc. The threshold of time and positively-contributing posts is very low, so get active and you'll be able to create new topics, access the journals, etc in no time.

I am very glad that you opted to continue this tradition. It is definitely the right move. But I believe that you have glossed over the most important benefit - privacy.

The world that we are discussing here is absolutely unreal. I don't have to tell any of you the insanity that sometimes can ensure when everything aligns just right. The kind of stuff that even if you tell people about it, they will just presume that you are lying.

But each of us is only one person, so we can only run one experiment at a time. But add one more person running another experiment (or even the same one), and suddenly you have double the data to draw conclusions from. As always there is a caveat: the data only helps if it is true and accurate, without any sugarcoating or alterations.

In other words, the data must be pure data instead of adjusted data.

Because of the nature of the topics we are discussing, many don't want the entire world to see the full extent of their testing. Myself included. This makes privacy a top priority for obtaining pure data. And with that pure data, we can help progress research forward as backyard scientists working in the shadows to change the world.

Because make no mistake about it, what we are doing here changes us as individuals, and that changes our families and environments, that changes our neighborhoods and towns and cities - and that's how the world grows.

Regardless of your goals with mones, the reality remains that the best testing ground isn't in a lab at MIT or Harvard, it's out in the real world, where we are all testing.

I am grateful you are the "owner" of the forum. Gladen, Mark couldn't have chosen a better successor and the biggest testament to that fact is that when you read that sentence, your first thought was "we all own it" - and you would be right.

It's our community, and thus each of us have a responsibility to nourish it and provide support and encouragement, and to foster the growth of knowledge that already fills this forum.

If you get nothing else from this reply, I hope that each member reading this will decide to take personal ownership over your responsibility to contribute, and exercise that ability fully. At the end of the day, none of us alone can even come close to the combined knowledge contained here. If we are to continue on this journey, it will take a lot of dedication and effort from each member. But should we continue to succeed, the rewards of our pursuit will be nothing short of incredible.
