First, I read that Androstanone is "female-repelling". Also to some people it smells like cat piss. Just about anywhere I read says it's not a good pheromone.

Also like this tidbit:

It's all consistent. Androstanone repels women unless they're ovulating (and only if they're not taking an oral contraceptive) in which case they may be indifferent to the smell or possibly attracted.

But on this and other pheromone forums and product marketers it's described as "your typical alpha / dominance pheromone. Gives a youthful and physical alpha traits" and "sexual pheromone, the type that gets you laid / one night stands etc." It's really not treated as a woman repellent.

Now I know there are plenty of claims about how some of these products make women wet and ready to go. Some guys swear by them. I don't doubt those claims.
This makes me think Androstanone is going to have a highly variable affect on women depending on their cycle.

So why do most products have Androstanone in them? Isn't this a big risk that you're going to go out and smell like cologne and cat piss?

That being said, what are your favorite products without Androstanone in them?

My confusion makes me reluctant to try some of the products I've bought which are "sexual" and contain Androstanone.

In the quote, the "tidbit" lists the molecule as "androstenone," not "androstanone."

I actually meant AndrostEnone, not Androstanone. Looking back at my notes that is in fact what I meant to ask about.
So same question applies to Androstenone.

From experience, what may smell like cat piss to some is a seductive aphrodisiac to others.

Specifically with androstEnone-heavy products like N.P.A., the effects are VERY obvious. Women who lack confidence, who are shy and who are not very sexual are VERY turned off. However, with women who are confident, social and sexual to VERY sexual, it is catnip to them and they'll be all over you.

Androstenone-heavy products are also good for clubbing-type situations where chances of hooking up with an extroverted ovulating woman are much higher.

So... the golden question is, what sort of woman are you trying to attract?

The rule that androstenone repels women unless they are ovulating is completely false.It's just that during ovulation the effect is much stronger.
