Technically, you can make your own centrifuge with a salad spinner for fairly cheap. I bought the spinner but haven't gotten around to it yet.
Diethyl ether is what we used in organic chemistry for extractions from alcohol solutions.
Upside, diethyl ether can be made to float on alcohol, removed with a pipette, and evaporated very rapidly.
Downside, diethyl ether costs money, is flammable as all heck and not so great to breathe.
You could also use, say, butane which you could probably get at a camping store. I'm not sure how pure it'd be, though.
