VNO activity not required

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20338743

From the article text:

"...genetic and behavioral studies have consistently indicated that VNO activity is not necessary for the display of some olfactory-mediated instinctual behavior."

"Both the Dulac and the Buck labs have shown by independent methods that subsets of MOE neurons establish primary circuits to GnRH-expressing neurons in the hypothalamus, confirming the occurrence of such post-synaptic specialization."

I detailed nearly all the aspects of the above (sans post-synaptic specialization) in my 2007 article/book chapter: http://www2.hu-berlin.de/sexology/BIB/kohl.htm

Marketers who continue to state that their products work by activating the non-functional human VNO should be avoided.
