Sexual desire and orgasm are far from simple issues that can be resolved by taking hormones or popping a pill that will turn your world into varying shades of blue. There are a host of influences on your brain and nervous system that control your sex glands and genitals, and some of those influences are your very thoughts themselves.

Anxiety, defensiveness, fear, and failure of communication are destructive psychological forces that can take a heavy toll on your libido, whether you’re a man or a woman, by acting as road blocks to desire. According to Professor Gert Holstege with the University of Groningen in the Nederlands, “Fear and anxiety need to be avoided at all costs if a woman wishes to have an orgasm.”

It All Starts in Your Brain

Every erection begins in your brain. Your brain stem emits nerve impulses that control erectile function. These nerve impulses navigate through the erection center of your spinal column to the erectile tissue of your penis, where they trigger a chain reaction in the membranes of your vascular muscle cells. This sophisticated chain reaction is dependent on a messenger molecule called cyclic guanosine monophosphate, or cGMP.

However, this works in reverse as well; an erection softens as soon as another enzyme called phosphodiesterase starts to degrade the cGMP molecules.

Drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis, work by inhibiting phosphodiesterase, which may help maintain your erection. But, these pills will not create an erection in and of themselves. Your initial erection still has to be triggered psychologically. Without that initial impetus, potency pills will have no effect whatsoever.

This is also why these pills are ineffective for many men who take them hoping for a magic jack-in-the-box effect.

Drinking lots of water is another great way to keep your libido in check. I tend to drink quite a bit of soda, but lately I've challenged myself to drink two glasses of water for every soda I drink. But of course, as we all probably know... Staying well hydrated also has much more benefits than that of sexual nature.

I certainly agree with you txi0m that our consumption of adequate amounts of good quality drinking water each day has immeasurable benefits on the health of our bodily systems, and one benefit that springs to my mind is that our endurance and strenght is greatly magnified.

One point to note with us humans is that many of us suffer from many and various ailments alergies and diseases with a majority of these relating back to considerations concerning our internal elimination system ie our plumbing, yes the clogging up of veins arterys and pancreas to name a few.

So i for one am trying to consume less refined foods oils and sugers and as you have said i also am striving to inprove my input of the consumption of quality drinking water per day.

Today was not too good 4 me with a few glasses of cola, one barley and chocolate drink with panax genseng extract, and errrrr um two small glasses of cranberry juice and a little kangen water, sure i will remember to do better tomorrow.

I just bought a new Z Flex longboard last Sunday i drove down south from Brisbane to a place called Miami which is near to the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise, the shop is called Darkside Skateboard Shop, anyway i am getting the hang of rolling and turning on the thing however it sorta becomes a little unnerving for me whenever i get to a downhill stretch of roadway and the board and i pick up an amazing amount of speed, and learing to STOP this creature is not as easy as it looks on U Tube ..... sigh . . sticking plaster anyone SOS SOS SOS

Haha..nice pharma pills...getting us to pay for our own destruction. Then without inhibitions we will "buy buy buy" more. Cardio eexercise is very important. All my female friends tell me the guys who play soccer always performed better in bed (stamina), rather than football types.

Thought I would chime in as yes, it is an interesting topic indeed. I think the interpretation of the unique nutritional type should be considered as instead....unique blood type. Studies show that a person with one blood type should avoid say, carbs and instead eat more protein. One blood type may need more greens instead of protein. Certain foods do well with one blood type and not with others. It has to do with a chemical change that happens to the blood when in contact with certain chemicals in the food. This is a good description.

It has even been noted that allergys are associated to certain foods of people with a certain blood type. Food allergies are a number one problem with people.

Personally, I don't feel the Daily Recommended Allowance for the types of food we eat with regard Dietary Pyramid, is correct. It could be doing more damage to people based on the blood type theory, then good.

My view on this is simple. In order for you body to function well and heal well, it must have the correct nutrients to do the job. If some foods are toxic to the blood, ie, wrong for the blood type, therefore it will be toxic to the organs hence causing damage as, we are what we eat. That is why it is essential for the organ transplant to be from a person with the matching blood type....the organs were "designed" for certain foods and nutrients.

I use to find just after doing weights, a sudden urge to grab any half decent attractive women and to have a short intense cardio session with her. Mrgreen

This is how I use to measure if I had a good workout. If I was not turned on after a workout it meant I did not do enough heavy compound exercises.
