lol that a woman crying makes a bloke run for the hills seems no new discovery to me.

But fair enough if they have found a scientific reason behind it.

I find this study to be interesting, but not very well controlled. I will be more interested in disciplined studies into this matter.

The mass media interpretation does not do justice to the discipline involved. Noam Sobel won an award at the Association for Chemoreception Sciences a year or two ago, for his excellent series of works that led him to become the head of his own lab. Studies published in Science are typically considered the best of the best.
