Are you new to Pheromones and have questions ??

So thinking of giving pheromones a try ?
For those new to pheromones it can become a overwhelming and confusing process. I have used pheromones for the last 9 years and I have coached men and women on pheromone use for the last three years and I thought for the benefit of the new people here at Pherotruth I would create a little FAQ guide to help you get a better start.

I am sure by now you have been goggling pheromones like crazy and have seen all the different sites offering products that promise to turn you into a virtual sex god or goddess. Beware of the hype. Yes pheromones do work but they do not do what many of these sites are promising. Understanding this in the beginning when you start will give you much better success rate when using pheromones.
What pheromones do not do
They do not change you
They do not change those exposed to you wearing them.
They do not take away a persons free will to choose.
They do not make attraction or socialization effortless
They do not fix broken relationships

Well what do they do then ?
They make attraction and socialization easier
They influence feelings and thoughts which in turn influences behavior.
They give you a edge or enhance what is already naturally there.

Think of them like any other product or process you use to enhance your natural qualities. People use makeup, cloths, hair styles, perfumes etc etc all to enhance themselves and to convey something about themselves to those around them. Pheromones do much the same.

What should I expect ?

Reaction or hits as we like to call them are generally subtle with occasional blatant hits. I will list some of these here for you. This is a general guide. There are other communication pheromones that we will cover later.

Subtle hits.
People staring more
People taking double takes.
People hovering close to you.
More eye contact , smiling and general friendliness.

Moderate hits
Flirtation with body language
Increased conversation
Increased approaches
pea cocking
Brush ups

Blatant hits
Verbal flirtation
Innuendos
Aggressive body language
Obvious sexual interest.
Deliberate touching.

Some of the terms I used above.
Pea cocking is something men do when they are trying to interest a lady. Much the same as the peacock which is where the nickname comes from they strut around , stand up tall, and flex muscles in a subtle fashion.

Women tend to touch parts of there bodies they are trying to being attention to. Not in a rude or dirty manner but a subtle manner. Licking of lips, playing with hair are some subtle indicators.

Brush ups are when a male or female get close enough to you to brush against you. You can usually tell if it a accident or not.

Deliberate touch is not inappropriate touch. This means touching of hands, shoulder arm. Putting the hand to the small of the back when leading someone.
These are all a big part of body language and they come from the human subconscious. We communicate with the body and with our pheromones way before we ever say those first words to a person.

Are there different types of mixes ?

There are different types of product or formulas you will see out there. Most circle around sexual attraction and response but you can find formulas that are designed for work, communication, the gay life style, feelings of well being and happiness and more.

Do pheromones smell bad ?

That depends on the person smelling them really. Think about where natural pheromones are secreted. Urine, sweat, semen, vaginal fluid and saliva. They can and do have a odor but that odor is easily masked. You have to also take into consideration that everyone perceives odors differently. The amazing thing I have always found about pheromones is that no one is ever aware of the smell until you make them aware of it. On you most have a musky human body scent that is easily covered with perfume or colognes. Keep in mind that chemical pheromone mimic the natural pheromone so your not wearing someone elses body fluids.

Is it the smell that causes the reaction ?

Nope the smell is really secondary. Pheromones are small molecules that diffuse off the body into the air and are inhaled by other mammals. They attach to the neurotransmitters in the brain causing them to fire a message of sorts to different emotional centers of the brain. These emotions cause a behavior change in humans and in animals.

Are pheromones dangerous ?

That depends on what you do with them. Anything can be dangerous if misused. Pheromones used in moderate amounts in the way they were intended to be used will not hurt or change your natural biological process.

Are there side effects ?

Yes there can be mild side effects for the person wearing them at times but not for those exposed to them on you. People sometimes experience rashes. This is usually due to the carrier or cover scent and happens to those sensitive to these type products. They are not hypoallergenic.
Others have experienced mild head aches. Again usually due to the scents but can also be contributed to the rapid fire of the neurotransmitters. The body is however used to firing its neurotransmitters and does it all the time. You can compare it to a caffeine headache. Caffeine when ingested causes the neuron’s to rapid fire and many people get headaches as well as heart palpitations from this. As the caffeine leaves the body so does the symptom. After a while the body adjust to caffeine and you no longer feel this reaction. Pheromones can function the same way.
Feelings of being tired. Again much like a caffeine high or a sugar high what go’s up rapidly can sometimes come down rapidly and cause us to feel tired and burnt out. This sometimes happens with certain pheromones but not as frequently as it does with ingested substances.
Lastly and very rarely some people can suffer anxiety from some molecules. This in my opinion can be a side effect and a self effect. I cover the difference below. It has not been discovered as to why but many long time users have considered this a physiological response to a non congruent signature. It tends to happen when someone wears to much of the opposite sex’s primary pheromones or when that signature triggers a memory response.
Now I am not bringing these up to scare or deter you from using mones. Remember people have these type of reaction to many different substances all through life. It happens but its rare. Pheromones are natural substances we come in contact with everyday at all different levels depending on your environment. Again moderation is the key.

Are there self effects ?

Self effects are different then side effects. Side effects are a adverse biological effect. Self effects are the feelings and emotions triggered in you by inhaling the pheromone molecule. They can cause happiness, feelings of well being and arousal in you as well as your intended targets. Depending on the molecule different emotions can be triggered and emotions are so much more powerful then people realize. Everything in this universe begins with a thought and the emotions that fuels that thought. Even biological effects in humans are first caused by thought and emotions. This has been proven by quantum physics and Einstein. E=MC2 This is a whole different subject though for another time.

How do I apply pheromones ?

Generally they should be applied to the pulse points on the skin. The reason being is the pulse points heat up well and help to diffuse the pheromones into the air . However we are all built different and are bodies heat up differently so testing out what is right for you is important. Here are some methods you can try.

Pulse points.
Good for oil based pheromones. You can find pulse points in different areas of the body but the popular places are inside wrists and elbows. The neck and chest. Inside of thighs where your leg connects to groin.

The sweeping method
. Good for sprays and alcohol based products. Hold the bottle a few inches from the section of the body you are spraying and sweep the arm as you spray to cover a larger portion of the body.

The hair application
. Good for sprays that do not contain the stinky pheromones like Androstanone or copulins.

Just spray it right in hair. Keep in mind that if it’s a alcohol carrier it can dry the hair out so use a good conditioner.

The rain down method
Good for sprays. Hold the bottle over you head about arms length and spray letting it rain down on your head and shoulders.

Clothes application
Some users like to apply to clothes. Now cloth is very absorbent and tends to hang onto the molecules longer so it can effect distance and effectiveness slightly but if you live in a cold climate and the body is covered a lot or do not want to spray to the skin it will still work.

How close do you need to be to see results ?

This depends a lot on diffusion and sillage. General rule of thumb is 6 to 8 feet.

What is diffusion and sillage ?

Diffusion is the molecule leaving the body and into the air so that others can inhale it. Without diffusion you have nothing unless they walk right up and smell you. Heat from the body aids diffusion greatly.
Sillage is a perfumers term meaning the vapor trail and distance that someone can smell something from. Think of grandmas apple pie cooling on the sill. The heat from the pie diffuses those yummy apple molecules into the air and the sillage and air current cause it to gently waft right up to your nose just drawing you in and making your mouth water.

How long until I need to apply again

Pheromones generally last 4 to 6 hours but some can go a little longer then that depending on the molecules.
Oil based pheromones last up to 12 to 16 hours. These diffuse slowly and more subtly because the oil weighs down the molecules more.

What different kinds of pheromones are there and what do they do ?

There are many different pheromones that can go into a formula. Some are predominately male and some are predominately female. You also have unisex pheromones which are derived from hormones made by both males and female.
I will review the ones you see most commonly in pheromone mixes.

Alpha Androstenol Sometimes referred to as Alpha Androstenol. Unisex
Creates a friendly approachable impression and feelings of comfort

Beta Androstenol Beta Androstenol Unisex

Creates a feeling of connection and closeness. Induces deeper more meaningful communication.
Both create attraction and a aura of health and vitality.

Androstenone also known as Androstanone or none.
This pheromone is predominant in males but females produce it as well in very small amounts. It tends to be a sexual pheromone giving a aggressive strong dominant aura. The strongest mate choice signal.
Can be worn by women in small doses to increase sexual arousal in themselves and to increase aggressiveness in partner.
AndrosterRone arone

This is a male pheromone that gives a strong peaceful alpha male signal. Gives feelings of protection safety and reliability.
Women have reported mood elevation when they wear it but very little reports of attraction of other males. Some say it may give off a taken signal.

Androstadienone Androstadienone
Male pheromone that evokes feelings of intimacy caring and comfort in women. It reduces signs of PMS and can be used by women for this. Its been dubbed by some as the love pheromone.

Estratetraenol ---------------- Est
The female equivalent of Androstadienone . Increases feelings of intimacy and caring in men . Increases attentiveness.

Copulins
These are exclusive to females. They are the vaginal secretions of fertile females. Highest in concentration at the time of ovulation but they are produced all though the cycle as long as ovulation still occurs in you.
These signal the urge for males to copulate. ( mate) They are one of the few pheromones that have a marked increase on the opposite sexes hormones. In the Astrid Jutte study it was found that testosterone increased by 150% within a 10 minutes of exposure. It has also been found to give a youthfulness and increase men’s perspective of female attractiveness.
There are a great deal of other molecules that are suspected to act as pheromones that are currently being tested by various other companies. They usually code them so you do not know there chemical name. This is most likely to protect there research from competitors.

The above are the mainstream pheromones you will come across. I will be covering some of the less seen ones and well as newer ones as more information is discovered about them.

Hopefully this will give you a better understanding of pheromones and help you understand more of what we are discussing in the forums. If you have questions or comments just jump right in and ask. There are many experienced members here to help. If you need coaching I will be happy to assist you. I prefer that you post it here right in the forum but if you feel uncomfortable with that your welcome to PM me.

Have a fun sexy pheromonal journey.

As far as descriptions of common Pheromones:

How about alpha- & beta- androsterone? Alpha-androsterone is very common in male and female mixes.

& DHEA - 2 of my faves contain DHEA, as an active ingredient. Why exactly? I believe it creates a sort of reset button / clean slate...not sure though.

Androstanone comes to mind as well. In male & female targetted mix - I've read that it is "universally appealing" which smacks of marketing drivel...why is it included?

Just questions that came to mind...anybody have answers?

Generally speaking, the 3-alpha-5alpha isomers of steroids are calming, soothing, anti-anxiety, and sedating (high doses) while the 3-beta-5-beta isomers and the sulfates are not. The beta isomers and sulfates tend to improve cognitive function and enhance memory, and are sometimes implicated in appetite control.

DHEA (3β-hydroxy-5-androsten-17-one) and DHEAS (3β-hydroxy-5-androsten-17-one sulphate) are beta isomers, so they are both expected to act as a memory enhancing-type pheromones, and as long as cortisol levels in the brain are in the normal range it should also decrease the appetite.

I think by alpha and beta Androsterone you mean Androsterone (alpha) and Epiandrosterone (beta)? Is that correct?

Androsterone is a 3-alpha, 5-alpha isomer, so it is expected to have potent anti-anxiety effects.

Epiandrosterone is a 3-beta, 5-alpha isomer, so its effects aren't that straightforward to predict. However, the 3-beta conformation is more strongly associated with effects, so it is probable that Epiandrosterone has similar effects to Androsterone.

DHEA, DHEAS and Androsterone neurosteroids, (I'm not sure about epiandrosterone), and all four are found in some measure excreted in the urine, and so these are prime candidates for putative pheromones.

You are welcome, Willow.

I just found this little tid bit buried way deep in a twenty-page research paper.

Quote:... it is noteworthy that the nasal mucosa contains many of the enzymes required for [α] androstenol synthesis, including 3α-hydroxysteroid oxidoreductase (Brittebo and Rafter, 1984), which can synthesize [α] androstenol from androstenone, a companion steroidal pheromone to androstenol.
