Best Bakeries
Best Deli's
Best Place for singles

Most trendy areas to live: I have heard "Bucktown" was the place to live.

Sorry I didn't see this thread at first, I was away at a conference when you posted it. I dropped some advice on locations to live in your journal. Here's some more advice:

* Generally the south side and west side are the shadiest. There are a couple of neighborhoods that are exceptions (e.g. Wicker Park), but this is a good rule of thumb.

* If you find a good rental agent, let me know! All the ones I've dealt with have been pretty scammy.

* Dry cleaners are everywhere and I can't tell much difference between them.

* Hotspots:

- every neighborhood has its own set of bars, so where you end up depends on your tastes.
- the big hotspot for ritzy night clubs and bars is the Viagra Triangle, which is formed by the intersection of State & Rush
- just up the street from there, by State and Division, is the motherload of more collegey nightclubs and bars
- for a more hipster vibe, wicker park/bucktown is it hands-down. there are a couple of punky music venues and some good food and coffee shops and that type of thing

* Some of my favorite restaurants in the city are:
- Bistro Campagne - in Lincoln Sqaure - best boeuf bourguignon anywhere ever. brunch is awesome too.
- Feast - a nice everyday kind of restaurant with a good wine list; decent brunch as well
- La Creperie
- Eleven City Diner - Awesome kitsch Jewish deli in the South Loop
- Big Star - in Wicker Park - GREAT gourmet tacos but crawling with hipsters at all hours, tough to get a seat. Worth it though. We're talking pork belly tacos here.
- If you like expensive fine dining, MK is very good. I don't recommend Graham Elliot.
